Our Fluffies found a real nature haven right in the middle of our bustling city. Last year we decided to give GameDuell’s 4th quarter charity donation to the Adventure Playground Kolle 37 located in Berlin’s district Prenzlauer Berg. The initiative offers an open recreational space for children from 6 to 16 years where they can have a great time together and learn a lot in various courses and activities offered, ranging from climbing to safe bonfire practices.
Kolle 37 was founded in 1990 as the first Adventure Playground in East Berlin, and with 3,500 m² is currently Berlin’s biggest outdoor space of its kind. Children enjoy a parent-free zone as all adults, except for educators, are forbidden from the main grounds. The kids learn to plan and build tree houses and responsibly create and tend to a fire in their cozy up-cycled fire pit.
They also have the chance to try out their skills at basket weaving, climbing, blacksmithing, animal care, baking, archery and many other activities. The place is so nice that sometimes even a real fox pays them a visit in the middle of the city. It has become like a roomie and mascot for Kolle 37.
The kids don´t have to pay for this unique Adventure Playground. Apart from public financial support and many cooperations, the initiative relies on donations in the form of money or commodity contributions. In addition, the project generates extra funds by renting tools, workspaces and their custom designed, eco friendly club house. Kolle37 also hosts special events like concerts during the “Fête de la Musique” music festival and a Christmas market for children and grownups alike and has collaborations with different schools and kindergartens.
Please visit the Kolle 37 website if you are interested in knowing more or would like to support this great place in Berlin.
