This October was our very first Green Team event!
Held in the lounge of our Mitte office, our Second Hand Swap Party offered team members a chance to bring in their pre-loved items of clothing and home items, to see if they could find a new lease of life with a different team member. We also encouraged parents to bring in items that their children may no longer use or have grown out of, in order for other parents to benefit.
The event was designed to encourage sustainable thinking and fully utilizing the things we have, rather than simply throwing things we may no longer want or use away. In this way, team members can lower their environmental impact by swapping and sharing their items, rather than purchasing new things or utilizing fast fashion brands.
We also served vegetarian snacks and played some music to keep the mood high as we tried on clothes!
Any items that didn’t find a new home were then donated to a local charity, Caritas, an organization which performs a wide range of community outreach within Berlin.
In addition to the second hand swap party, we also regularly run a raffle for old devices that are no longer fit for work purposes – rather than simply disposing of any electronics that require updating, we give our team members a chance to enter a raffle to win them. This way, the winners get to enjoy a new device and we avoid unnecessary electronic wastage.
We consider our first Green Team event a great success and hope to hold many more in the future!
